Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that caused or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to the hazard of potential fires and explosions from dust collectors (for combustible dust) being located inside buildings: (a) In the following three areas, dust collectors having an internal volume in excess of eight cubic feet were located inside employee occupied buildings, performed indoor recirculating of their air, and lacked explosion venting systems: (A) The CNC Area Dust Collector; (B) The Spool Router Dust Collector; and (C) The Panel Saw Dust Collector. Feasible abatement methods would include, but not necessarily be limited to: (1) Relocating the dust collectors outside of the employee occupied buildings; or (2) Equipping each dust collector with a deflagration venting system which is vented to the outside and which has been designed to withstand the effects of deflagration; or (3) Installation of Deflagration Suppression Systems in accordance with NFPA 69; or (4) Installation of Deflagration Pressure Containment Systems in accordance with NFPA 69.A
