Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall: a) Insulation Area An employee fell 8'6" from the forks of a forklift when he was lifted to the top container to move product. Violation occurred on or about 4/9/08. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: 1. Use a manlift cage, with a personal fall arrest system, to ensure the protection of employees from falling when being lifted up to the top container.
