Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being caught in nip points: a) On or about 7/3/08, at the conveyor lines in the stacker area of the Corrugator Department; an employee standing on conveyor system to re-stack materials that had tipped over had his foot caught between two conveyor belts moving in opposite directions when the conveyor belt he was standing activated. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard includes complying with ANSI B20.1 section 5.12(d) safe operating procedure prohibiting employees from walking/working on a moving conveyor belt and complying with conveyor suppliers instructions for conveyor safety. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIREDATION
