Labor and Employment Article, section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:05/27/08 Location:Waste Water Treatment Facility Condition:The water pressure in the eyewash that was provided was below the ANSI regulation of 30 pounds per square inch or 1.5 Liters per minute of flushing fluid for 15 minutes, in an area where Ferric Chloride and Sodium Hydroxide was being used. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to increase the water pressure. (b)Date of Violation:05/27/08 Location:Tray Wash Room Condition:The eyewash unit had been knocked off the wall and was laying on the floor, in an area where Sodium Hydroxide and Sodium Hypochlorite was being used. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to repair and replace the unit on the wall.
