Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being run over by a John Deere 410 G Loader/Backhoe while attempting to jump onto the outside of the machine. On 07/15/09 an Employee attempted to jump onto the machine and fell to the ground. The employee was injured when the machine backed up over the employee. Amongst other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the manufacturers instructions and prohibit riders. Note: ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
