Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazard: a) Worksites such as, but not limited to, Picatinny Arsenal, Building 302. An employee was lifted 8' in a material basket that was not secured to the lifting cage or forks of an electric lift truck. Violation disclosed on or about 7/29/08. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: 1. Ensure that all platform attachments are secured to the lifting carriage or forks by means such as, but not limited to, steel chains.
