North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a contact with ingoing nip points and/or rotating parts hazard: a)glass line #1, for employees performing maintenance on the oven/roll press, emergency stops and emergency strip switches were not inspected to ensure they were functional. On July 11, 2008, an employee was injured when his arm was caught between two rollers. Employees responding to the incident were not able to stop the machine by using the emergency stop or emergency tape switch. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard would to be to follow the Manufacturer's recommendations and check the emergency stop switch and both machine stop tape switches on the exit conveyor after completing maintenance.ons
