Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to electrical hazards while living in a temporary
migrant labor camp.
Temporary migrant labor camp comprising two mobile homes located at 238
and 256 Howard Gilbert Lane in
Hendersonville, NC 28792 - Thirteen migrant workers were occupying this
camp while electrical hazards
existed as follows:
a) The electrical outlet in the kitchen at #256 was loose in the wall and
not effectively closed in that it was
missing a cover.
b) Unused, live electrical wiring in the hallway was exposed in that it
was not covered or in use for lighting or
other purposes.
c) The ceiling light fixture in the bedroom on the right at #238 was
hanging down from the ceiling, exposing
live wires.
d) There was no ground fault protection on the outlet near the kitchen
sink at #238.
Abatement Notice: One feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to
have a licensed electrician wire this
mobile home in accordance with the National Electric Code and local
building code requirements.
