North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Fire hazard and burns from escaping acetone. [Ref. Machine & Welding Supply Company pamphlet on gas products (Acetylene C2H2) Acetylene must be stored in a upright position] a)job site - a "B-1" compressed gas bottle, filled with acetylene, was stored in the back of the work truck in a horizontal configuration. Abatement note: One means of abatement would be to obtain a stand designed for the bottle that would encourage the proper upright storage and use.
