North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Anodizing building - the bottom running (underhung) bridge cranes installed above the two dip tank lines had not been inspected frequently or periodically to ensure proper operations and/or repair as necessary. REFERENCE: ANSI B30.11-1980, Chapter 11-2, Section 11-2.1.1 - Inspection Classification, paragraph b: Inspection procedure for crane and monorail systems in regular service shall be divided into two general classifications based upon the intervals at which inspection should be performed. The intervals in turn are dependant upon the nature of the critical components of the equipment and the degree of their exposure to wear, deterioration, or malfunction. The two general classifications are herein designated as frequent and periodic . . . ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other abatement methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to have the crane inspections performed daily and monthly.d
