Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck-by sharp pieces due to the hazard of compressed air, on or about 03/26/09. a.1916 Graves Road, Norcross, GA - Througout the shop compressed air at a pressure of 125 psi is being transported by PVC pipes in the facility in the area where employees work, on or about 03/26/09. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replaced the PVC pipe with an impact resistant Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) pipe. The pipe is recommended by the plastic pipe institute for this purpose. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
