Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
On or about 08/14/09 at Stockbridge, GA: Employees were exposed to struck
by hazards, while
operating a forklift, which did not have seatbelts installed.
In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required
for this violation
(using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THESE HAZARDS IS:
ASME 56.1-2000, Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks,
requires that employers
provide an active operator restraint device or system on all lift trucks,
and require its use.
