Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: collapse hazards from unsecured racks. A Feasible and acceptable method in correcting this problem would be to secure the racks to the floor as specified by ANSI/RMI MH16.1:2008. On or about 11/04/09 employees of U.S. Lumber Group, Inc. were placing lumber materials on metal storage racks that were not anchored to the floor. The rack heights were from 12 feet to 24 feet. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
