Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:01/09/09 Location:Veal Processing Room Condition:Where employees were exposed to Chlorfoam 14, a corrosive liquid, the emergency eye wash station was activated by two separate hot and cold foot pedals, the temperature gauge on the hot water line read 160F. (b)Date of Violation:01/09/09 Location:Big Kill Floor Condition:Where employees were exposed to Chlorfoam 14, a corrosive liquid, the emergency eye wash station was activated by two separate hot and cold foot pedals, the temperature gauge on the hot water line read 160F. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install and maintain an eye wash that meets ANSI Z358.1-2004 standard requirements. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
