Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards and/or crushing hazards: (a)Jobsite, 420 Pellis Road, Greensburg, PA: On or about 7/14/09 the Genie S-60 aerial lift was being used to hoist roof trusses into place exposing employees to tipover and crushing hazards. Warning labels on the aerial lift state "Do not place or attach overhanging loads to any part of this machine". Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the manufacturer's warning labels stating not to use the machine to attach or lift loads.
