Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards of 30 feet: (a)On or about 01/15/09, ValuePlace Suites Hotel, Bessemer, AL, employees were exposed to a fall hazard of 30 feet to the ground below from the work platform attached to the SkyTrak Forklift which was wider than the overall width of the truck plus 10 inches on either side. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to abate this hazard is to use a work platform that is designed in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B56.6a-1994, Safety Standard For Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks.t
