Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by suspended loads: a) OKK-B area on or about August 18, 2009. - The buttons on the pendant control of an overhead hoist were not marked to indicate the direction of movement. b) B-80 area on or about August 18, 2009. - The buttons on the pendant control of an overhead hoist were not marked to indicate the direction of movement. c) Finishing area on or about August 18, 2009. - The buttons on the pendant control of an overhead hoist were not marked to indicate the direction of movement. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct the hazardous condition may include: Establish and maintain a monitoring program to ensure that the directional controls on pendants are properly marked to indicate what direction of movement is controlled as required by ASME B30.16, Overhead Hoists. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED.
