Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not
furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees:
(a)Date of Violation:On or about 11/17/08
Location:Rear of the Home
Condition:Employees felled a tree without having planned and established
an unobstructed escape
route.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct the hazard is to follow the
requirements set forth in A.N.S.I. Z133.1-2006, sections 8.5.3 through
8.5.4 which requires workers not
directly involved in removing trees to be clear of the area and a planned
escape route planned, with
obstructions cleared along the escape.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.

in the
event of an emergency situation.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to follow the requirements set forth in A.N.S.I. Z133.1-2006, Sections
3.3.1 through 3.3.5,
which requires emergency phone numbers be available, an adequately stocked
first aid kit be
provided at the work location, instruction in identification and treatment
of common poisonous
plants, employees trained in emergency response and rescue procedures, and
cardiopulmonary
and first aid training.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training
certification, etc.) is required for this item.
