Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to being crushed by dies in a crust press:
a)  Worksite is located at 20 Passaic Ave, Fairfield, NJ.
An employees left ring and pinky finger were crushed in the point of
operation
of a crust press.
Violation occurred on or about 1/7/09.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is:
1.  Ensure power is off to COMTEC Model 1100 Single Crust Press prior to
changing
dies/plates.
2.  Train all employees that change dies/plates in the manufacturers
instructions for "Installation
of Dies" and ensure the effectiveness of that training.
3.  Use a die block to hold up the top die/plate during installation or
adjustments.
