General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling load hazards: Industrial area - Employees were exposed to hazards of being struck by an overloaded hoist as it falls. A CM 1/2 Ton hoist did not have a load rating marked on the hoist clearly legible from the loading position as required by ANSI B30.11 1973 paragraph 11-1.1.2. Among other methods, one method of abating this hazard is to test load the hoist with 125 of its expected maximum load to determine its capacity and post that capacity on the hoist. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(2) abatement of the above violation was verified at the time of inspection. No certification is required.tion
