causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to fire and explosion hazards:
Employees working Building #2 near the bagging/tote loading and unloading
area were
exposed to fire and explosion hazards in that the air-material separator
for the pneumatic
conveying system was located inside the building and not protected with an
explosion
venting system.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to
protect the air-material separator with an explosion venting system as
referenced in
section 11.4 Air-Material Separators of NFPA 61 "Standard for the
Prevention of Fires
and Dust Explosions in Agricultural and Food Processing Facilities", 2008
edition.
29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1) requires certification and documentation that the
abatement of the
above violation is completed.
