Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the warehouse of PR Retail Store Inc. dba Almacenes Pitusa # 34 in
Fajardo PR, it was
observed that the employees were exposed to head struck due to the
employer do not provided
helmets or post a warning sign about the height of 5 feet 5 inches of the
fire protection water
and electrical pipes from the mezzanine floor. The employees were lean to
storage
merchandise
such as tvs, paper tower boxes, paper toilet boxes, chairs, etc. under the
fire protection water
pipes and electrical pipes in the mezzanine.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is providing
helmets to protect the employees or to increase the fire protection water
pipes and electrical
system pipes height.
En el almacen de PR Retail Store Inc. dba Almacenes Pitusa # 34 en Fajardo
PR, se observo
que los empleados estaban expuestos a golpes en la cabeza debido a que el
patrono no proveyo
capacetes, ni coloco un letrero de advertencia sobre la altura de 5 pies 5
pulgadas de las tuberias
para agua de prevencion de incendio y sistema electrico sobre el piso del
entrepiso (mezanine).
Los empleados necesitaban inclinarse para almacenar mercancias tales como
televisores, cajas
de papel toalla, cajas de papel de inodoro, sillas, etc., debajo de las
tuberias para agua de
prevencion de incendio y sistema electrico.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es proporcionar
capacetes para proteger a los empleados o aumentar la altura de las
tuberias de agua para
prevencion de incendio y sistema electrico.
