Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 16 feet from the top of the flat roof. a) An employee was exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 16 feet while working on the flat roof of building #26 without fall protection. The employee was charging the air conditioning unit and walking near the edge of the unprotected roof. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce the use of the personal fall arrest systems that the company purchased for working on the roof.ng
