North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to crushed by hazards:
a)welding facility-  on or about 3/23/2010 and 3/30/2010, approximate
1,200 pound reels were
welded without the use of chocks on both sides to prevent reel movement.
Abatement Note:   Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable
abatement method to correct this hazard
is to ensure that wheel chocks or wedges are used to prevent movement on
both sides of the reel.
