Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fire and/or explosion hazard: (a) Employees were exposed to a fire and/or explosion hazard created by an inadequately cleaned ventilation system in the explosive blending bays of the pyro building at 47600 180th Street in Clear Lake, South Dakota. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to follow the DOD Contractor's Safety Manual For Ammunition and Explosives, DOD 4145.26-M, paragraphs C12.13 and C15.4. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
