Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from falling transmissions: a.)Shop - Two employees removing a truck transmission did not have a transmission jack in place under the transmission prior to loosening the bolts securing the unit, on or about June 26, 2009. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard is to place a transmission jack under the unit prior to loosening the bolts holding the unit onto the housing.
