Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment
which were free
from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm
to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards:
Employees were exposed to fall hazards in the warehouse area while working
from a
platform on a walk-behind motorized powered industrial truck, Crown Model
15MT-110 and
serial number 1A120589, because the truck platform was not constructed for
lifting of
personnel and no fall protection was provided.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abtement method to
correct this hazard is
to obtain and use a platform meeting the requirements of ASME B56.1-2004,
American
Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift
Trucks.
