Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment that were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees to caught-in hazards: In the Fitting Department, an employee was exposed to the hard of being caught in the point of operation on the #342 press brake due to the fact that the foot control used to initiate the stroke of the machine was not guarded to prevent unintended actuation. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to install a foot control cover to prevent unintended actuation of the press brake in accordance with ANSI B11.3-2002, American National Standard Institute, Safety Requirements for Power Press Brakes which states, when provided foot controls shall be protected to prevent actuation from falling objects or from unintended actuation. ***Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d)***
