Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. The employer failed to furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: The employer failed to furnish employment free from recognized hazards as follows: a.Located at the Nellis Landing construction site, a foreman was observed driving a pick-up on an off-road environment that contained a compressed gas cylinder filled with carbon dioxide. The cylinder was not secured in the bed of the truck. The cylinder had the valve installed and was being used for filling the water lines to check for leaks. The employees were exposed to possible serious injuries or death in the event of the valve shearing from the cylinder. Reference: CGA P-1-2000, Safe Handling of Compressed Gases in Containers, Ninth Edition. 3.7.4 Cylinder positions in storage All compressed gas cylinders in service or in storage at user locations shall be secured to prevent falling or rolling. One feasible means of abatement would be to ensure employees follow the CGA P-1-2000, Safe Handling of Compressed Gases in Containers and place cylinders securely while in service or being stored.
