General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the point of operation: Production Area - The foot treadle on the Version T-1512 Press Brake was not guarded to prevent accidental actuation. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard is to implement the requirement outlined in American National Standards Institute ANSI B11.3-2002 for actuation of press brake by foot pedal. When provided, a foot pedal of the type that services as an operator control shall be equipped with a means to prevent unattended machine actuation. Certification and documentation/evidence of abatement is required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.ment
