North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to falls in excess of 25' [Reference ANSI/SIA A92.2-1990, Section 10.2]: a)Automotive Shop area: a Forward automotive lift, model # DP10S was observed and the employer had not established a periodic inspection procedure for the lift to ensure safe operation. Ref: ANSI B153.1-1981, Park 6, page 8, paragraph 6.3: The owner or employer shall establish a periodic inspection procedure as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure the safe operation of a lift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to establish a procedure where a periodic or annual inspection is conducted on the automotive lift.
