Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees were exposed to falls resulting from the misuse of manlifts: On or about: 3/9/10 Location: Monarch at Ridge Hill, Yonkers, NY 10710 a) Employees stood on the mid and top rails of a Genie GS-1930 scissor type manlift platforms. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the Safety Rules in the manufactures Operator's Manual and the warning labels posted on the lift itself. NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
