Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment, which was free from recognized hazards that was causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a flying plastic projectiles hazards due to possible mechanical failure of plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping: Employees were exposed to the hazards of flying shrapnel from an exploding plastic PVC for the maximum air pressure as recommended by the Plastic Pipe Institute. 2.Follow the American National Standard Institute/American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ANSI/ASME) B31.1-2007 Power Piping as applicable. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).s
