Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) At the golf course, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard in that the employee was allowed to ride in the back golf club storage area of the EZ-GO golf carts. Violation observed on or about 17 February 2009. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard would be to : follow the 1986 edition of the American National Standard Institute Standard Z130.1-1986, Safety & Performance Requirements for Golf Carts, Section 4.2. Safety Warnings, and the safety operational instructions contained in the EZ-GO Golf Cart Operator's Manual, 28676-601.
