North Carolina General Status 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards associated with lifting or manually handling rolls of paper and plastic: a)establishment, printing - employees routinely (daily) move rolls of plastic and paper weighing between 300 and 500 pounds from pallets positioned on the floor, by inserting a metal bar in the core of the roll and pulling the roll onto the side for placement on the printer and the slitter. Among other methods, on feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard is to use a Roll Clamp attachment, which is recognized in the industry, as safe means of handling rolls.
