employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing, or likely to cause, death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to flying debris in the event of a ruptured compressed air
line:
On or about May 18, 2009, and other times prior thereto, polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) piping, 1-inch diameter, schedule 40, was used as the compressed air
piping system. The PVC compressed air system was subject to rupture in the
event of failure. The compressed air system was used at locations, such
as, but
not limited to:
a.Mill shop
b.Spray paint booth
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this
hazard would be to
replace the existing PVC compressed air piping system with a type suitable
for
the transmission
of compressed gases.
