General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of crushing injuries. Establishment: Operators were operating powered industrial vehicles without using their seatbelts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abating this hazard would be to require employees to wear the seatbelts that the vehicles are equipped with and to enforce the wearing of such restraints when operating the vehicles. Specific abatement documentation that this violation has been corrected must be provided within 10 days after the abatement date in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1).
