What this inspection record means

OSHA opens inspections for many reasons — routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. Opening or conducting an inspection is not itself an allegation or a finding that this employer broke any rule; any findings appear as the citations listed below, and citations can be contested, reduced, or withdrawn.

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North Carolina: The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to electrical hazards from improper use of
temporary wiring and exposure to live
electrical parts.
1) Trailer (light green/white trim) behind trailer at 208 Futreal Ln.
Beulaville, NC 28518, light switch by back
door was missing face plate, exposing live wiring rated at 110 volts,
water heater installed outside of the trailer
was not protected from the natural elements. Junction box on outside of
hot water heater is not rated for outdoor
use. Possibility of shock.
2)House located at 195 Miller Rd. Beulaville, NC 28518, the path to ground
from the refrigerator in the kitchen
was not permanent and continuous in that the plug was not plugged into an
outlet directly. It had been plugged
into a drop cord and the drop cord plugged into wall outlet, that was not
GFCI
protected, refrigerator and outlet
rated at 110 volts.
Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abating these
violations is properly install the hot water
heater in an appropriate manner where exposure to the natural elements is
eliminated and eliminate all
temporary wiring being used on a permanent basis and have all corrections
made that meet NEC and local
building code requirements.
