General-duty citation text

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment
and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
being caught in between tipping trusses
being struck by/caught in collapsing trusses and/or walls during and/or
immediately after truss installation:
a)East side of structure at gable end, 640 Saguaro; On or about 3/2/10 and
at times prior thereto, the
first 26 foot span wooden roof truss was not provided with any temporary
bracing to the ground level.
b)Eastern to middle section of structure, 640 Saguaro; On or about 3/2/10
and at times prior thereto, ten
26 foot wooden roof trusses had been installed with only  a single row of
Top Cord Temporary
Lateral Restraints (TCTLR) at the roof ridge in lieu of any additional top
cord restraint, diagonal and
horizontal temporary bracing.
Note 1: Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard would be to
follow the temporary bracing requirements for roof truss installation per
the Wood Truss Council of America
(WTCA) and the Truss Plate Institute's (TPI) Building Component Safety
Information (BSCI) 'Guide to Good
Practices for Handling, Installing, Retraining & Bracing Metal Plate
Connected Wood Trusses.'
Note 2: Abatement certification and documentation IS required for this
item.
NOLAN CONSTRUCTION  WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD WHICH
WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION 309965705, CITATION 01, ITEM 001a, ISSUED
