Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) On or about 6/11/09 in the Balemaster baler area; employer has not conducted and did not document training for those employees who operate and or maintain the balers in the facility, such as but not limited to, the horizontal extrusion Balemaster brand baler. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this condition would be conducting training and instructing employees in the safe methods of work before assigning them to operate or maintain the baler. The employer shall maintain records of this training to include the date(s) of the training and the content of the training received as indicated American National Standard Institute Safety Requirements - ANSI Code Z245.5 - 1990, Section 7 Operational Requirements, 7.1 Employer Responsibility # (3).
