Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall and crushed-by hazards. a.On or about 07/09/09 - supply area, employees were being lifted while standing on the forklift forks to retrieve lumber from the storage rack. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to use only lift truck designed to lift personnel in accordance with American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standard ASME B56.1-2000, Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks, Section 4.17.
