Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)On, or at certain times before, October 21, 2009, employees operating CNC Router "E" in the central production area were exposed to possible entanglement hazards with either the rotating chuck/bit assembly, or the moving machine table, due to a broken Emergency Stop button on the machine. A feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to establish and enforce a safety inspection and maintenance program to ensure that all controls and safety-related components of the machine are in place and working prior to use. Abatement certification is required for this item - use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.
