Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. The employer failed to furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: The employer failed to ensure compressed gas cylinders were stored properly as follows: a.At the Advanced Metal Works fabrication facility, two compressed gas cylinders that contained a gas mix of helium and nitrogen were observed near the Amada LASMAC, LC 2415. The cylinders were not stored properly to prevent falling or rolling (ref. Compressed Gas Association, Inc., P-1--2000, pg. 9, paragraph 3.7.4, 9th edition). The exposed employee was 10 feet from the compressed gas cylinders. One feasible means of abatement is to ensure that the compressed gas cylinders are secured at the user location properly. The user should be familiar with how to secure this type of cylinder(s) in accordance with the information contained in the Compressed Gas Association, Inc., pamphlet, ninth edition.
