Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to pharmaceutical dusts:
a)Blister Room - employees were exposed to Active Pharmaceutical
Ingredient dust
such as, but not limited to, Doxazosin Mesylate, Pravastatin, Lisinopril
Hydrochlorothiazide, and Trazodone Hydrochloride while preserving and
dislodging pills
from the blister packages and during the Debottling process of
transferring bulk
quantities of product from the original containers into secondary
containers as observed
on or about May 7, 2009 and June 10, 2009.
Abatement Notes:  Feasible means of abatement include but may not be
limited to:
1) discontinue use of compressed air, or at a pressure only high enough to
dislodge
product from
the line;
2) installation and use of local exhaust ventilation with High Efficiency
Particulate Air (HEPA)
filtration; and,
3) mandatory use of respiratory protection.
