aluminum dust that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees
in that:
(a)In the Harley Davidson Value Stream wheelabrator area a dust collector,
which
collected dust from the wheelabrator finishing of aluminum castings, was
located
inside the building, potentially exposing workers to the hazards of fire
and/or
explosion.
(b)In the Small Engine Value Stream wheelabrator area a dust collector,
which
collected dust from the wheelabrator finishing of aluminum castings, was
located
inside the building, potentially exposing workers to the hazards of fire
and/or
explosion.
ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct
these hazards is to comply with the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) 484 "Standard
for Combustible Metals" (2006 Edition) as it applies to your operations
and equipment including
but not limited to the following: Locate dry-type aluminum dust collectors
outside of buildings
(as per section 6.3.2.5 of NFPA 484).
Certification, with date and method of abatement required.
Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be
submitted within ten (10)
calendar days after the abatement date.ment
