Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to crushing injuries:
On or about September 17, 2009, and at times prior thereto, at the jobsite
located at
1407 Powell in Springdale, Arkansas, where employees were manufacturing
wood crates
for the interstate shipping industry.  Employees were operating a single
button actuator
for the hold down clamp on the notcher machine.  One feasible means of
abatement is
to use the manufacturer-provided 2-hand-control actuator in order to keep
their
hands/fingers from the pinch point created between the clamp and the
stock.
