North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to n-propyl bromide in excess of the ACGIH TLV 10 ppm as an 8- hour time- weighted average concentration: a) Facility, Glue Line - on September 3, 2009, a glue sprayer was exposed to n-propyl bromide at an 8-hour time-weighted average of 392.696 ppm [39.27 times the ACGIH TLV of 10 ppm]. This exposure was derived from two samples collected over 483 minutes. b) Facility, Glue Line - on September 3, 2009, a glue sprayer was exposed to n-propyl bromide at an 8-hour time-weighted average of 298.429 ppm [29.84 times the ACGIH TLV of 10 ppm]. This exposure was derived from two samples collected over 481 minutes. c) Facility, Glue Line - on September 3, 2009, a glue sprayer was exposed to n-propyl bromide at an 8-hour time-weighted average of 274.148 ppm [27.41 times the ACGIH TLV of 10 ppm]. This exposure was derived from two samples collected over 479 minutes. d) Facility, Foam Cutting - on September 3, 2009, cutter was exposed to n-propyl bromide at an 8-hour time-weighted average of 189.285 ppm [18.93 times the ACGIH TLV of 10 ppm]. This exposure was derived from two samples collected over 474 minutes. Among others, feasible and acceptable methods of abatement are: 1) Product substitution to a product that does not contain n-Propyl Bromide 2) Install local exhaust ventilation that controls employee exposure to n-Propyl Bromide below 10 ppm for an 8-hour time-weighted average concentration.
