were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that an employee
was exposed to a fall hazard.
(a)Building C, 3180 McDowell Rd., Jackson, MS - On or about August 25, 2009
An employee was standing on the mid rail of a Genie scissor lift
(#HR2392). The
employee was 16 feet above the floor.
Safety warnings for personnel standing on the guardrail of scissor lifts
are listed on the
equipment and ANSI/SIA A92.6-1999, Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms.
ANSI/SIA A92.6-1999,Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms,Chapter
7.10(9) - States that
"personnel shall maintain a firm footing on the platform floor while
working thereon. Climbing
by occupants on the midrail or toprail of the aerial platform is
prohibited."
The fall hazards warning label next to the operator control warns
personnel not climb on the
guardrails and also states "maintain firm footing on the platform floor at
all times."
