Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a) 4 Dedrick Place, West Caldwell, NJ Employees use body belts as part of a fall arrest system on high lift order pickers. Violation observed on or about 11/3/09. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: 1. Use full body harnesses, as recommended by the manufacturer, as part of the fall arrest system on high lift order pickers. 2. Develop and implement a training program for operators to ensure that employees understand the use, limitations and inspection methods for the fall arrest system.
