29 CFR 5a(1): 24 V.I. R&R 36(b)1.5a(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 7-01-14: Location: North side of building (outdoor) a) The Employer did not ensure that standing water around electrical equipment was properly drained. The OSHA Inspector observed electrical power lines contained in pvc piping was sitting in water. The wiring is to energize the building from a generator(located outdoor) in the event of a power outage. If said water penetrates the piping, contact could cause a fire. In the event of a fire and/or explosion, exposed employees could suffer from a degree of burns and/or other bodily injuries. THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19(c)
